SPACE Orders New Original Canadian Drama BITTEN

I don't know if anyone else here reads Kelley Armstrong's books, but they mostly deal with supernatural things: werewolves, vampires, witches, demons, necromancers, etc. Her first novel, Bitten, is going to be a mini-series.

I'm worried that they'll screw up the casting, but I'll still definitely give it a try.

I haven't read her novel Bitten, but I have read her books about that necromancer girl and her supernatural friends (The Darkest powers Trilogy?). They were great. Smile

Has anything been said about an air date?

I enjoyed the Darkest Powers series too. I'm not as keen on the Darkness Rising (?) books, but they're still okay. (And Kelley Armstrong and Melissa Marr are co-writing a YA series steeped in Norse mythology. JOY!)

I just heard today (the author posted that link on Twitter), but I'll pass along any info I can find.

If they screw up the casting for Clay, though, I will be very annoyed. Rage

I misread the notice. Embarassed I was too excited by the news!

It's not necessarily a mini-series. "thirteen episodes of the one-hour drama have been ordered, with production set to begin in Toronto next spring" So if does well, they could expand it. (There are 13 books in the adult series, after all, so there's lots of material!) So for an air date, I would guess Fall 2013?

I'd like to see the Darkest Powers books as a show too. Necromancy isn't a power that's usually shown, let alone with teenagers.

The ball is (slowly) rolling on the TV adaptation of Kelley Armstrong's Bitten: Laura Vandervoort has been cast as the protagonist, Elena, the only known female werewolf.

LV's not my first choice, but the people I like rarely get cast, so I'm used to that.

Here's a promo for it:

(I can't get it to load for me, but maybe you'll have better luck.)

I think it starts airing in January. Canada's got it for sure, and I think an American channel picked it up, but beyond that, I don't know when or where it will air.

Canadian fans: If you didn't catch Bitten tonight, it should be reaired on Space on Sunday and Monday.

American fans: I believe it premieres on Syfy on Monday.

I wasn't thrilled with the first episode, but I've read reviews that say the second one picks up the pace, so I'll try another episode or two before judging. There are a lot of great characters in the books, so I hope the series can do well.

I'm torn. While I dislike how they changed Jeremy's character, I think the actor mostly stays true to the spirit of the character. Likewise, though Nick is nothing like I pictured him physically, I think the actor gets most of the spirit of the character. I find Elena too wishy-washy (and I hate the breathy voice) and Clay lacks a certain... coldness. But I'm going to finish the first season at least.
